Divinity is also a big hit around the holidays, and this recipe is above average. This is what Anna thinks of when she thinks about having divinity.


3 cups sugar
2 eggs whites
1/2 cups white corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans

Boil together the sugar, water, and syrup until it spins a thread. While cooking, beat the egg whites until stiff.

Pour 1/2 of the syrup mixture in a fine stream over the beaten egg whites, beating constantly. Put the vanilla in the egg whites. Return the syrup to the heat, and boil to a hard crack test. Pour the remaining syrup over the egg white mixture, and beat until stiff. Add the pecans and fold them in. Pour the warm divinity quickly on to a buttered platter. Let cool, and cut into serving sized pieces.
